TikTok is enhancing its creative tools with the launch of a new AI-powered feature, “TikTok AI Alive,” which allows users to turn static photos into videos.
Announced on Tuesday, this feature brings a fresh approach to video creation within TikTok Stories by using artificial intelligence to animate still images with various effects and movements.
Transforming Photos into Living Moments
The “AI Alive” feature is accessible through the TikTok Story Camera. It allows users to choose a photo from their Story Album and transform it into a short video with dynamic effects. These effects may include movement, atmospheric changes, and creative enhancements.
For example, a photo featuring a sky and ocean could become a video where the sky changes colors, clouds shift, and the sound of waves crashing is added. This opens up a new world of possibilities for creators, especially in crafting engaging Stories.
A Step Ahead in AI Video Creation
This marks a major step for TikTok, as it extends its AI capabilities beyond its earlier text-to-image generator. While Instagram and Snapchat have also introduced similar text-to-image features, TikTok now provides an even more advanced tool by allowing users to generate videos from images.

To start creating AI Alive videos, users need to open the Story Camera and select a photo from their Story Album. The AI Alive icon will appear in the toolbar on the photo edit page, allowing users to apply AI-generated effects. This easy-to-use feature adds another layer of creativity for TikTok's growing base of content creators.
