On Day 3 of OpenAI's 12-day event, the company announced the release of Sora, a groundbreaking video generation model that promises to revolutionize how videos are created and utilized.
Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced Sora as a research preview, showcasing its capabilities in generating realistic videos from text prompts.
Now, Sora has moved beyond the research phase and is available as a standalone product at Sora.com, accessible to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users.

Features
Sora allows users to generate videos up to 1080p resolution, with options for widescreen, vertical, or square aspect ratios.
Users can create videos up to 20 seconds long and have the flexibility to extend, remix, and blend their own assets or generate new content entirely from text.
Remix and Re-cut Capabilities
Sora Turbo introduces the Remix feature, allowing users to replace, remove, or re-imagine elements within their videos. The Re-cut functionality enables users to isolate the best frames and extend them in either direction, completing scenes with precision.
Storyboard and Loop Functions
The Storyboard tool helps organize and edit video sequences on a personal timeline, providing a structured approach to video creation. With the Loop feature, users can trim and create seamless repeating videos, enhancing the storytelling experience.
Blend and Style Presets
Sora's Blend feature allows the combination of two videos into a single seamless clip, expanding creative possibilities. The Style Presets enable users to create and share unique video styles, capturing their imagination and enhancing their creative output.
Pricing
Sora is available as part of the ChatGPT Plus plan, priced at $20 per month. This plan includes the ability to generate up to 50 priority videos (1,000 credits) at resolutions up to 720p and durations of up to 5 seconds.
For more extensive use, the ChatGPT Pro plan, priced at $200 per month, offers unlimited generations and the highest resolution for high-volume workflows.
Users can create up to 500 priority videos (10,000 credits) with resolutions up to 1080p, durations of up to 20 seconds, and five concurrent generations. Additionally, Pro users can download videos without watermarks.
Safety and Monitoring Measures
OpenAI has implemented several safeguards to ensure Sora is used responsibly. All Sora-generated videos include C2PA metadata for transparency and verification. Visible watermarks are added by default, and an internal search tool helps verify the origin of content.
OpenAI is committed to preventing the creation of harmful content, such as child sexual abuse materials and sexual deepfakes, by blocking, filtering, and monitoring uploads.
The company is also piloting strict moderation standards for uploads featuring people to address concerns around likeness misappropriation and deepfakes.
