Meta Unveils Hand-Tracking Fitness App [Move Fast]

Recently, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has released a fitness app demo with low-latency hand-tracking tech, named Fast Move.

Meta is making strides in enhancing its hand-tracking technology to compete with Apple's Vision Pro mixed reality headset. In a bid to demonstrate their progress, Meta has introduced Hand Tracking 2.2 as part of the Quest's v56 software update.

The focus of Hand Tracking 2.2 is on improving hand responsiveness, a crucial element in the quest to outperform Apple's Vision Pro, which heavily relies on hand-tracking capabilities. Meta claims that this update reduces hand-tracking latency by a remarkable 40% during typical usage and up to an impressive 75% during fast movements.

 

Innovative Fitness App

To showcase these advancements, Meta has released this first-party app 'Move Fast.'

Based on the gameplay demonstration video, this is an app that combines virtual reality and rhythm gaming. Players will smash or block incoming objects according to the music's melody.

However, it's important to note that Move Fast offers only four songs to play through, primarily serving as a demonstration tool for developers to explore how Meta's Interaction SDK can handle fast-action fitness applications.
