The latest development update from Riot Games brings exciting news for League of Legends players, with a focus on the Arena game mode's improvements and the announcement of a new PvE mode in the works. Additionally, the update covers the Champion Mastery system revamp and Lee Sin's visual update.
Arena Mode
16-Player Lobbies & New Prismatic Items
Riot Games shared insights on the Arena mode's performance, noting a decline in play hours over time. To address this, the team has introduced new features aimed at increasing variety and longevity.
The player lobby will expand to 16 participants, reducing the repetition of champion pairs.
Additionally, a fresh class of items called Prismatic will be introduced, designed to be build-defining and influence in-game strategy.
Item System Overhaul
The item acquisition process will see a transformation, moving beyond the traditional shop purchases. Players will now have the option to gamble using anvils for a chance to buy items at a reduced cost, although with less reliability.
These changes are part of Riot's ongoing efforts to refine Arena and enhance its appeal.
New PvE Mode
"Bullet Heaven Survivor"
Riot teases a "bullet heaven survivor" PvE mode, a fresh take on League's core gameplay that promises a more relaxed experience compared to Arena. This mode will allow players to battle against enemy hordes either solo or with friends.
Though details are scarce, the mode is set to launch alongside a mid-year event.
Champion Mastery System
Permanent Titles and Individual Performance
The Champion Mastery system will undergo changes, including making champion-specific titles permanent and adjusting how mastery points are calculated. Mastery scores will now solely reflect individual performance, and the updated system is expected to debut on May 15th with patch 14.10.
