Lionel Messi experienced an atypical off performance, considering his high standards, as Inter Miami CF played to a 0-0 draw against Nashville SC at DRV PNK Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Having joined MLS in July, the renowned Argentinean player had participated in nine matches for Miami, all of which ended in victories. These victories included six achieved during regular gameplay and three secured through penalty shootouts, spanning across Leagues Cup, U.S. Open Cup, and MLS fixtures.

However, on this particular Wednesday, Messi's usually enchanting left foot failed to deliver a decisive goal, despite having scored 11 times in his initial nine matches. Consequently, Miami couldn't secure a win, impacting their challenging journey towards the MLS playoffs.

This marked the inaugural instance where Miami failed to score since Messi became a part of the team.

In Wednesday's match, Lionel Messi and former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets were both in the starting lineup for Miami, following their entrance during the previous game against the New York Red Bulls in the 60th minute.

Lionel Messi was captured taking a shot during Inter Miami's MLS game against Nashville.

During the initial 60 minutes, Inter Miami struggled to breach the defense of Nashville, who held the seventh position. Miami failed to register any shots on goal during this period.

In the 60th minute, Messi endeavored a free kick after drawing a foul on Nashville's Dax McCarty. However, Elliot Panicco managed to stop the shot aimed towards the bottom-left corner.

Nonetheless, fans of Inter Miami were quick to record the free kick, hopeful that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner might replicate his debut performance – scoring in the 94th minute and securing a victory for Miami over Mexican Club Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup opener.

In the 69th minute, Nashville's Hany Mukhtar had a goal disallowed due to an offside call.

Messi's next opportunity came in the 83rd minute, but his shot was deflected by a wall of defenders.

The two teams had previously faced each other just 10 days earlier in the Leagues Cup final. Messi's early goal in regular time and his successful penalty kick had contributed to Miami's victory in an 11-round penalty shootout, earning them their inaugural trophy.

On Wednesday, Messi and his Inter Miami teammates posed alongside co-owner Jorge Mas on the field, showcasing the Leagues Cup trophy to their home fans for the first time.

Following the draw, Inter Miami now holds 22 points with 10 games remaining. They are currently 10 points behind the last playoff position, occupied by the Chicago Fire. Messi and the team are scheduled to face the defending MLS Cup champions, LAFC, at BMO Stadium this weekend on Sunday.
