Google has just made its AI filmmaking tool, Flow, even more powerful with the addition of new editing features. The latest update, Veo 3.1, offers users enhanced capabilities for adjusting shadows, lighting, and even generating videos with synchronized audio, making AI-generated videos more realistic than ever before.
Expanded Editing Features in Flow
The new Veo 3.1 update includes the ability to modify lighting and shadows, giving users greater control over the look and feel of their AI-generated videos. These changes aim to make videos created with Flow harder to distinguish from real-life footage, offering a more immersive visual experience.
Improved Video Creation Tools
The update introduces new features like “Ingredients to Video,” which allows users to generate videos with audio based on three reference images. Another feature, “Frames to Video,” enables the creation of a video that smoothly transitions from a starting image to an ending one, complete with audio. Additionally, the “Scene Extension” feature allows users to extend a video by adding more content—up to a minute in length—with AI-generated audio.
Future Features on the Horizon
Looking ahead, Flow users will soon be able to remove any object from a video, seamlessly restructuring the scene as though the object was never there. This functionality will further elevate the customization options for content creators working with AI-generated footage.
Access and Pricing
The Veo 3.1 update remains at the same price as its predecessor, Veo 3, and is available through a “paid preview” via the Gemini API to developers. It is also enabled in the Gemini app, which provides developers with access to the new features.
Editor’s Comments
Google’s continued advancements in AI video generation demonstrate a clear push towards making AI-generated content indistinguishable from real-world media. The added features, especially those allowing for dynamic audio and video edits, open up significant potential for content creators, particularly in industries like advertising, entertainment, and digital media.
