The Slasher Is Here — Jason Voorhees Enters The Fog Tomorrow
After 10 years of community demands, countless forum threads, and a legal entanglement that kept Camp Blood's most famous son locked out of the game, Jason Voorhees — "The Slasher" — will finally arrive in Dead by Daylight on June 16, 2026, as CHAPTER 40.
His inclusion marks a watershed moment for Behaviour Interactive's flagship horror game. Jason joins Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, and Leatherface to complete the "Mount Rushmore of Slashers" in one single roster.
The Kit: Omnipresent Evil
Jason's power, Omnipresent Evil, is designed to make him feel as oppressive and inescapable as he does on the silver screen. Below is a full breakdown of his ability set:
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Phase Walk | Completely vanish from the map and move at 181% speed (7.24 m/s), leaving behind a husk that attacks nearby Survivors |
| Footprint Tracking | While phased, Jason senses Survivors by the sound of their footsteps, leaving visible mist trails |
| Jump Scare | Re-appear with a devastating entrance — shatters breakable objects, reveals all Survivors within 16m via Killer Instinct, and grants 4.5% Haste for 25 seconds |
| Throwing Spikes | Acquire spikes from Hooks or Scrap Piles and hurl them at Survivors — can pin Survivors to walls, impale them (inflicting Broken), or set up a Mini-Mori |
| Hook Spike Kill | Down a final-hook-stage Survivor with a Spike and trigger a brutal Mini-Mori execution |
Movement Stats: 110% base speed (4.4 m/s) → 181% in Omnipresent Evil → 1.8 m/s while throwing spikes. The husk left behind during phase has a 1m attack radius. The Jump Scare targeting range is 16m on the X-Y axis and 12m on the Z axis, with a re-appearance time of 1.5 seconds.
Unique Perks
| Perk | Rarity | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Hex: Scared to Death | Very Rare | After hooking 3 Survivors, breaking a pallet during chase causes all Survivors within 13m to scream and suffer 11-13% Hindered for 3 seconds |
| Rampage | Very Rare | Gain 1 token (up to 13) per broken pallet/wall — each stun or blind grants 1% Haste per token for 13 seconds (20-30s cooldown) |
| Silent Shadow | Very Rare | After hooking a Survivor, gain Undetectable for 11-13 seconds. When Exit Gates are powered, Undetectable lasts the rest of the Trial |
Exclusive Cosmetics
Three never-before-seen Jason outfits launch alongside the chapter:
- Backwoods Terror — A brutal woodland encounter reimagining
- Death Forsaken — A macabre undead version of The Slasher
- Depths of Despair — Jason terrorizing victims from beneath the water's surface
The 10th Anniversary: A Weekend to Remember
Yesterday (June 14, 2026), Behaviour Interactive hosted its 10th Anniversary Party at The Grand Quay in Montreal's Old Port, bringing the community together for a day of developer panels, meet-and-greets, an "Art of Dead by Daylight" mini-expo, gaming kiosks, and the marquee Year 10 Anniversary Broadcast.
The Dead by Daylight Movie Is Alive
Blumhouse's Jason Blum revealed that a Dead by Daylight movie is officially in development, with Thordur Palsson (The Damned, The Valhalla Murders) attached as director. The screenplay by Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is complete. Filming is expected to begin in 2027.
The film will feature iconic in-game locations including The MacMillan Estate and Greenville.
