Amazon has broadened access to its Health AI assistant, making the tool available for free to users across its main website and mobile applications. Previously limited to One Medical members after its January launch, the assistant is now accessible to hundreds of millions of customers without requiring a Prime membership or a One Medical subscription.
Amazon Brings Health AI to a Wider Audience
Amazon first introduced the Health AI assistant earlier this year as part of its One Medical platform. With the latest update, the company has expanded the tool beyond the One Medical app and integrated it into Amazon’s core digital ecosystem.
The assistant is designed to provide quick healthcare guidance, allowing users to ask medical questions and receive AI generated responses. This expansion significantly increases the reach of the service, making it available to a global user base that already interacts with Amazon through its website and mobile apps.
Key Features of the AI Health Assistant
The Health AI assistant supports a range of health related tasks. It can explain lab results and medical records, help users manage prescription renewals, and assist with scheduling appointments with One Medical providers.
The tool also provides guidance for more than 30 common health conditions, including acne, diabetes, and sleep apnea. In addition, users can allow the assistant to access certain personal medical information, such as lab results and clinical notes, to provide more tailored responses.
Human Support and Pricing Structure
When questions require professional medical judgment, the assistant can connect patients directly to One Medical care teams. These consultations may occur through messaging, video appointments, or in person visits.
For users who are not One Medical members, provider consultations are priced at $29 per visit. Amazon also noted that eligible Prime members will be able to receive up to five free direct message consultations with One Medical providers in 2026.
Privacy Protections and Medical Compliance
Amazon has highlighted that the Health AI assistant operates within a HIPAA compliant environment. All user data is encrypted, and the company stated that it does not sell customers’ health information.
Conversations with the assistant are also not automatically added to official medical records, a safeguard intended to maintain user privacy while still enabling helpful interactions.
Amazon’s Expanding Role in AI Healthcare
The wider rollout comes after Amazon’s $3.9 billion acquisition of One Medical in 2023. It also follows the launch of Amazon Connect Health, a suite of AI tools introduced by Amazon Web Services to support healthcare providers with tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient verification, and clinical documentation.
These developments signal a broader strategy by Amazon to integrate artificial intelligence into healthcare services and compete with telehealth companies as well as other technology firms developing medical AI systems.
